Privacy Policy
Home / Privacy Policy
This policy explains what happens to information when you use the Carmalandscape website, a shop for electronics and digital products. We wrote it in plain language because privacy pages that hide the point are not useful. The short version: the pages run in your browser, the cart stays on your device, we do not ask for a phone number or a street address, and email you choose to send to hello@carmalandscape.com is read by a person.
Last updated: 3 October 2026.
1. Who this policy is from
This policy is from Carmalandscape. When we say “we”, we mean the people who operate this shop and the inbox hello@carmalandscape.com. When we say “you”, we mean a visitor, a subscriber, or someone who asks us to confirm an order. We do not operate a public telephone line for this shop, and we do not publish a business street address on these pages. If you need a person, use email.
2. What this website is
The site is a static collection of pages, styles, and scripts. There is no customer account database sitting behind the forms. Scripts in your browser validate what you type, remember a cart, remember products you save, and remember an email address if you subscribe on this device. That design is a privacy choice as much as a technical one. Information that never leaves your device cannot be lost by us in a breach of a server we do not run for this storefront.
Because of that design, submitting a form shows a confirmation on the page. It does not, by itself, upload the form to us. If you want a representative to read an order or a question, use the email link we offer or write directly to hello@carmalandscape.com. This policy describes both situations: data that stays on your device, and data you deliberately send by email.
3. Information you type into the site
Different forms ask for different fields. We keep the list short.
- Contact: your name, email address, a topic, and a message.
- Checkout: your name, email address, an optional note, and a confirmation that the details are ready.
- Subscribe: your name, email address, the interests you tick, and consent to hear from us.
- Unsubscribe: your email address and an optional reason.
- Footer newsletter: an email address.
- Search and filters: words and categories you choose, used only to filter the page you are looking at.
We do not ask for your telephone number, your home address, your payment card number, your government identity number, or your precise location. Please do not put those into a free-text note. If a delivery address is needed for hardware, a representative will ask for it inside the email thread after you have decided to proceed, and only for that shipment.
4. Cart, saved products, and order notes on your device
The cart is stored in the browser’s local storage under a key used only by this site. Each line keeps a product identifier and a quantity. Prices are read again from the catalog in the page, so a stale price does not hide inside the cart. Saved products are a list of identifiers. After a valid checkout, the cart is cleared and a copy of the order summary can remain in the browser’s session storage so the thank-you message can still be shown if you refresh. Session storage usually disappears when the browser session ends. Local storage remains until you clear it, unsubscribe, or remove the items.
Anyone who can use your browser profile can see that cart. Do not build a cart on a shared computer if the product list is private. Use your own profile, and sign out of the operating system when you are done.
5. Newsletter memory on this device
If you subscribe in the footer or on the subscribe page, the email address is added to a list in local storage on that browser. Unsubscribe removes that address from the same list. This is a local record so the page can tell you the address was stored or removed here. It is not proof that a remote mailing system was updated. If you also joined by sending email to hello@carmalandscape.com, send “unsubscribe” to that inbox as well. We treat a clear unsubscribe request in email as final for marketing messages.
6. Email you send to us
When you email hello@carmalandscape.com, or when you use a mailto link that opens your own email app, your message is handled by your email provider and then by the mailbox we read. That message can include your name, your address on the email, the body you wrote, and any order summary the link prepared. We use it to answer you, to confirm or decline an order, to send a digital license you asked for, to handle a return or a warranty, and to keep a record of that conversation for as long as the order or the claim may still matter.
We do not use order email as an excuse to add you to a marketing list. Marketing requires the consent on the subscribe form or a separate request you make. You can refuse marketing and still receive messages about an order you asked us to confirm.
Please avoid sending sensitive information we did not request. If you do, we will delete what we do not need when we see it, where the mailbox tools allow that.
7. How we use information
On the device, information is used to show the cart, the saved list, validation messages, and the subscribe state. In the inbox, information is used to:
- reply to questions about products;
- confirm items, prices, and delivery or download steps;
- send licenses and replacement download links;
- handle warranty and return conversations;
- send the newsletter if you asked for it;
- keep a record if a dispute about an order arises;
- protect the inbox from abuse, such as repeated empty messages or attempts to deliver malware.
We do not sell personal information. We do not rent the newsletter. We do not build advertising profiles from this website, and the pages do not include third-party advertising scripts.
8. Legal reasons for email we hold
Where a privacy law asks us to name a reason, we rely on the following. Answering a message you sent is what you asked us to do. Confirming an order and delivering a license is the performance of the steps you requested. Keeping a copy of an order thread is a legitimate record of a purchase and of warranty duties. Sending marketing email is based on the consent you gave, which you may withdraw. Keeping the inbox free of abuse is a legitimate interest in running a small shop safely. If a law requires a different basis, we follow that law for the person it protects.
9. Cookies and similar storage
This storefront does not set tracking cookies for advertising. It uses the browser’s local storage and session storage, which are not always called cookies but work as on-device memory. The keys remember the cart, saved products, newsletter addresses you entered here, and a short-lived checkout confirmation. You can remove them in your browser’s site settings. Removing them empties the cart and the local subscribe list. It does not close an order a representative has already confirmed by email.
Your browser may store ordinary files so the pages load faster. That is the browser’s cache. Clearing it does not by itself delete local storage, and the other way around. Your browser’s help page explains both controls.
10. Fonts
Pages request the typefaces Albert Sans and Jost from Google Fonts so headings and text match the design. When your browser fetches those files, the font service receives the technical details that any web request carries, such as an IP address and the address of the page. If you block that request, the site still works and falls back to fonts already on your computer. We do not send your cart or your form text to the font service. The font request is separate from the product scripts.
11. Sharing
We do not sell or trade contact details. We share information from an email thread only in these narrow cases:
- with a delivery partner, and only the details needed to carry a parcel you have agreed to, once a delivery location exists in the thread;
- with a person who helps us answer mail or prepare a download, under a duty to use it only for that task;
- if a law, a court, or a competent authority requires it;
- if we must protect someone from serious harm, and sharing is a proportionate way to do that.
Share buttons in the footer open Facebook, X, LinkedIn, or Pinterest with the public address of carmalandscape.com. They do not send your cart. If you complete a share, you are using that service under its own policy.
If we ever move the mailbox or the shop to a new operator, we will tell subscribers by email where we have their addresses, and the new operator will be bound by this policy or by a successor policy we send you.
12. How long we keep information
On your device, cart and subscribe data stay until you remove them or your browser does. We cannot set that clock from our side.
In the inbox, we keep order and warranty threads for as long as the warranty may still be claimed and for a short period after, so we can show what was agreed if a question arises. Two years of hardware warranty means the thread usually lives at least that long, plus a modest archive period. Marketing records are kept until you unsubscribe and then deleted or reduced to a suppression note that says “do not email this address”, so we do not add you again by mistake. Contact messages that never become an order are deleted when the question is finished, unless we need them a little longer to show how we replied.
Download links may expire sooner than the license itself. The license record in the email thread is the durable copy. Keep your own copy of license keys in a place you control.
13. Security
Email is not a perfect vault. Messages can be misaddressed, and mailboxes can be attacked. We protect the hello@carmalandscape.com mailbox with a strong passphrase and a second factor where the provider offers it, and we do not ask you to send card numbers into it. You should protect the mailbox you write from as well. Do not forward a license key into a group chat.
On the website, validation checks the shape of a name and an email before a success message appears. Validation is not encryption of a transmission, because the form does not transmit. Do not treat a shared computer as private. Lock the screen when you step away from a cart that lists gifts or personal projects.
14. Children
The shop is meant for adults buying electronics and creative tools. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you are a parent and you believe a child has emailed us, write to hello@carmalandscape.com and we will delete the message if we can identify it. Products such as drones and studio tools should be purchased and supervised by an adult.
15. Your choices and requests
You can browse without subscribing and without checking out. You can empty the cart, clear site data in your browser, and unsubscribe. You can ask us, by email, what order information we hold about your address, ask for a correction, or ask us to delete a marketing record. Order records that we must keep for warranty or for a legal claim may be retained even after a deletion request, but we will limit them to that purpose and tell you if we cannot delete everything.
If a privacy law gives you a right to object, to restrict processing, or to lodge a complaint with a regulator, you may use that right. Email us first if you want us to fix something quickly. We will respond within a reasonable time, and sooner if the law that applies to you sets a deadline.
We do not make solely automated decisions that produce legal effects about you. A person reads order email. The scripts on the site only check that a field looks complete.
16. Marketing and unsubscribe
Marketing email is optional. The subscribe page and the footer form are the ways to ask for it on this site. Each marketing message we send from the inbox will tell you how to stop. You may also use the unsubscribe page and, for the inbox list, write “unsubscribe” to hello@carmalandscape.com from the same address. We honor that request. Transactional mail about an open order, a license you asked for, or a warranty claim you opened can continue, because that mail is the service rather than a promotion.
We do not buy email lists. If you receive a message that claims to be Carmalandscape and you never wrote to us, do not open attachments. Forward it to hello@carmalandscape.com if you can do so safely, and we will tell you whether it was ours.
17. Links to other sites
Product stories may mention tools you already use, and share buttons open other sites. Those sites have their own policies. A link is not an endorsement of their privacy practices. Read them before you create an account there. Once you leave our pages, this policy no longer covers what the other site collects.
18. Visitors in different places
The website can be opened from many places. We do not aim the text of this policy at a single country, and we do not ask you which country you are in. If you email us, your message may be read where the mailbox is hosted. Protections in this policy travel with the information. Where the law of your place gives you a stronger right, that stronger right applies to you. We do not weaken this policy for visitors from one region in order to collect more data from them.
19. Changes to this policy
We will update this page when the shop’s practices change. The date at the top will move. If a change affects marketing consent or the kind of information we ask for in email, we will also mention it in the newsletter or in an order thread if we have your address for that purpose. Continuing to browse after a small clarification does not, by itself, mean you agreed to a new use of old email. A new use of contact details needs a reason listed in this policy, or a fresh request from you.
20. How to reach us about privacy
Write to hello@carmalandscape.com with the subject “Privacy”. Tell us the email address your request is about, and what you want us to do. Do not include a phone number or a postal address unless we have asked for a delivery location for an order you already confirmed. We would rather solve a privacy request in writing, with a record both of us can keep.
If you are asking about a cart that never left your browser, we do not have that cart. Clear the site data on the device where you built it, and it is gone from that device. If you emailed an order summary, mention the approximate date so we can find the thread.
